Default 302 newb questions sorry

Hey guys, im a newb around here. Im an rx7 guy and im deciding to come to the "dark side" and do a v8 swap into my 88se. Well, im gettin a free 302 out of a 67 mustang. I believe they put out 225 flywheel hp? anyway just wanted to see what you guys think of the motor, its siezed but thats no big issue. My main goal with this car is to make around 300rwhp without nitrous as this will be a drift car\daily driver as well as a street racer im sure. just any little hints or links you guys could send my way would be great. Also if you know of any immediate mods to get me to my goal let me know. Im new to the 302, ive playd with some 5.0s, but most my knowledge is in turbo 4clys(sr20s hondas blah blah) and rotorys obviously(work on alot of 3rd gen rx7s and i have a 2nd gen) so thanks for anything you can help me out with guys. lata

If you want 300 rwhp, then I think that corresponds to maybe 350 horsepower at the flywheel. I can't give you a specific recipe to make 350 horsepower because the 302 I built has probably 100 less horsepower, but if I was going to go that route, I'd definitely do the crane roller cam retrofit kit and aluminum heads. I like the design of the TFS twisted wedge heads, but I don't own a pair so I can't vouch for them. You don't have to do anything major with the bottom end, just a stock rebuild with some quality main bolts like ARP or Milodon. Probably want something like 10:1 compression and a healthy roller cam and then top it off with a Edelbrock performer RPM or maybe victor junior, unless you go the fuel injected conversion route, in which case you'd want to go with GT-40 upper and lower and 25 pound injectors.

Or, just slap a supercharger on it.

I'd go the 347 stroker with edelbrock victor heads. With the right carb, intake, cam and exhaust you'll be at 400 hp and twisting up everything behind it.One thing, you mentioned that the motor was seized. You can safely overbore a 302 .030. Anything more and your into the red zone. Hope this helps
