Default Mustang II Front Suspension on a 68 Coupe!!!

What do you guys think about putting a mustang 2 front suspension setup on my 68 coupe. It is 2k for the whole setup with coil over and rack and pinion steering and disk brakes. I have to completely replace the front suspension and get disk brakes anyway seems to be better. Any drawbacks to consider.

Mustang II parts are not as weak as you think. I did the Mustang II conversion on a 69 F100 truck about 8yrs ago and it is still in use today. I hauled trailers, sand, motorcycles, you name it I hauled it in that truck.

Man! Have you ever sold a vehicle you really wish you hadn't I miss that truck

Anyway I like the idea. Better suspension geometry and you get rack/pinion steering. I would use a newer rack from a Fox body. It is not prone to leaks like the Mustang II's. You will have to relocate the mounting holes in the crossmember. There is about a 1/2" difference between them

That sounds like a great conversion... I have seen a couple of Stangs that have done this so they could get more room up front. They ended up cutting out the shock towers, and then dropped in a 351. You do have more engine options without the shock towers in the way.

Good luck with the conversion, and keep us posted on the project. Pictures and what happened would be great.

I 've been tossing around that idea for my 67... i'm just afraid of how well that attaches to the front of the car?¿ I like the Total Control stuff but they are just way way way over priced... any one have a like to a site that walks thru the install process of a mustang II suspension on one of these???

Try to convince someone else the job was done correctly when you try to sell the car, and you'll see one of the BIG drawbacks. You'll get as good or better performance with Total Control Products upgrades. OEM components will still bolt right in, and you can transfer the parts to other ford vehicles.

the problem with Total Control is that it is to adjustable, and I have yet to see one tuned just right. Look at Global West control arms instead. Total Control makes great sub frame connectors

I've got the Total control sub frames and i agree they kick a$$, car used to creak and moan.. now that is all gone, she is solid as a rock... and i got them before they jacked their prices sky high... i just wish i would have got the front suspension when it was $1,800 now its $2,499, they are just going crazy with their pricing... it had somthing to do with mustangs plus... cuz after they teamed up the price shot up...

Well, If you're going to gut the rear suspension, what's a fender flare or two?
