Default 67 Instrument panel modification

Anyone modified their OWN instrument panel to fit aftermarket gauges rather than buy JME's $1000 money sucking version? I was thinking of just buying an instrument panel somewhere and maybe cutting it to fit the gauges but didn't know if any of you out there had better suggestions.....does anyone make a panel cut to fit gauges without including the gauges? I have the '67 deluxe panel (brushed aluminum) thanks for the info guys!

Haneline does (www.haneline.com). They have the engine turned stainless gauge panels (panel only) for $180 for your car. I have seen others that are brushed aluminum and/or camera case style finish in 5 and 6 gauge patterns, but mostly they come with the gauges, which is not what you are after. Good luck with your project.

Did you try all the Auto-Lite in-dash guages? I thought those would be a good fit.

Yeah the Ultra-lites i'm going to use are in-dash models. I figured out that if you snap off the little lip that surrounds the hole where the gauges mount, you can slide the 2 5/8'' gauges right in for a pretty good fit. The problem is on the bottom ones where the speedo and tach will mount in im not sure how to do it. Maybe i could cut it with a dremel tool or something? All the custom gauges i've looked at it seems as though they are mounting the gauges from the back, where as with my way I will be installing them from the front (if that makes any sense)......any more suggestions anyone?
