How can you tell if my engine is a 289 or 351.

I know for sure it is stamped on your heads. just pull the valve covers and there is your answer.

Alrighty, i checked and its a 351. Ok now i need new wires because a possom ate through them but dont know what wires to get. Can you help me?

As far as wires go, you should be able to use any wire set for a 302/351. What is the year/model/type of your car? I would just ask the folks a the parts store for that combo's wires. BTW, is it a C or a W?
If your not sure, we can start to figure out what you have with the VIN/numbers from the block

I saw your picture, it's a windsor. Probably from the late 70's to early 80's. Make sure you get a set of wires to fit the late model distributor you have. The late model distributor is called a Duraspark distributor and the terminals on it look like the ends of a spark plug. If you get ones for a 66' they will have the wrong ends. Take a wire to the parts store to show them.
