Default Using B-W T-5z with older bell housing

I am getting ready to do a T-5 swap in my 66 mustang. It currently has a Motorsport 5.0 engine. I want to use my old mechanical clutch and linkage rather than going with the cable, especially since I have headers.

Based on some research, including a lot from this site, I believe the best tranny is the B-W T-5z combined with an early model T-5 bell housing. According the the research, the older bell housing with some minor modifications will allow me to use the original clutch and linkage.

I am not sure if I can use this combination. Has anyone had any experience with this combination?

Thanks in advance,

Weave

I found that the 10.5" clutch and pressure plate resulted in a very heavy clutch pedal with the old linkage. To this point this has busted the clutch fork pivot twice, the equalizer pivot on the block side once, the gorilla spring on the clutch pedal under the dash, the pedal bushings, and the welds on the equalizer bar once. If you're going to go this route, use a long and beck style pressure plate(10" clutch) if your flywheel has the bolt pattern for it. These are now available in diaphram versions instead of the old three finger type. If you still find the clutch pedal stiff, I suggest beefing up parts in the above mentioned areas.

Good luck,

John H.
