:thumbsup Did you have to have the strut towers notched for that? I've notched a few of those, but I don't remember the displacement going into them. I only know for sure that one of them was the aluminum 512c.i.d.

I don't know about a 67, but I've got a 70' 351C 2v block, with 4v upper. Only 2 bolt main, but in stock form pulled my 73 Mach 1 pretty damn good. I'm not completely sure about this, but I've been told it's one of the best power combos by some very respected pros. Now she's being built up a little, I'm keeping with the 2v/4v combo though. I'll eventually have a 4-bolt main for racing, but won't be doing a lot of it.

Hi again.I didn't have to cut any on the shock towers, but I did have to 'modify' them some for exhaust clearance with the a big hammer. That thing sure was fun.Hubby said that I needed something a little more civilized to drive because I was expecting our second child at the time.He was right I guess.

You don't seem so convinced...lol. The only part of my "Pre-nump" (we didn't actually have one) is that the Stang NEVER leaves...lol. I make sure to confirm this daily!

And, a big hammer? Notched would have looked a little better, but serves the same purpose Just FYI for Denv12 when deciding on which engine (and so I don't feel like I hi-jacked his thread).

There are so many choices and opinions available on engine/drivetrain combos it really depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Here are a few choices to think about:

- any stock Windsor engine (289,302,351) These are great street engines! You can build them fairly cheap, use some Hi-po heads, or aluminum aftermarket heads, or stock heads, put a good cam in, get an aluminum intake and 4bbl carb, electronic ignition and start drivin'
- any stroker Windsor engine (331,347, 393,408,427) The extra displacement will give you tons of torque. Choose the right heads, cam, intake, carb and you can use that low-end torque on the street. Really awesome engines.
- FE engines (390,428,others) FE's are great engines, strong, and powerful. If you use aluminum heads on these, they will weigh the same as an all-iron 351Windsor. These are big block engines, but they really have great HP and torque and a unique sound
I didnt mention the 351Cleveland, 351M, or 400M b/c I don't really like the block in those engines. They are fine, but I don't care too much for the oiling system etc. For reliability and strength the above mentioned are best imo.

- If you are running under 300HP you could use the following transmissions: C4, C6, AOD, 3spd 4spd toploader, T5 manual, TKO trans, etc. I like the 5spd's b/c of the overdrive which is great for street/highway.

-Whether you choose an 8 inch or 9 inch rearend the main thing is to get the right gear ratio. Depending on which transmission you use there are many choices. Most Mustangs came stock with 2.79 or 3.00 gears (I think). If you want a good blend between performance and gas mileage I would recommend 3.55 gears.

Let us know what you are considering using.
