Default Radio questions, 1966 coupe

I'm soon going to install an original AM radio in my 1966 coupe. At the same time, I will be moving the current radio (a modern CD AM/FM stereo) to the glove box. I have some questions about wiring. Has anyone else done this with their car? Are there any websites that talk about how to do it? In particular I have questions about the wiring for power and the antenna. Should I just make Y connectors to split the power and antenna connections so both radios can be connected to the antenna and the battery? The two radios will have physically separate speaker systems, so that's not a problem.

Also, my car is missing the rear AM radio support bracket. Is it critical for installing the AM radio?

Finally--one last question--I'm probably going to place a repair plate over the AM radio hole because the guy who previously own the car cut the dash a bit. I have a metal plate and a plastic one (purchased from www.mustangplus.com). I have a feeling I'm going to have to use the plastic one because I don't know how to weld. Anyway. does anyone have advice about how to stick repair plates to the dash? Do I use some sort of glue or cement?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Just out of curiosity, why is it necessary for both of them to function?

Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't try to get the antenna cable to connect to both. I think it may be coaxial, which would make creating a splitter for it difficult to impossible. I've seen mentioned a splitter that you can buy to serve that function, but for the life of me I can't find it. Supposedly Radio Shack carried it, but it's not on their site now. Splitting the power, though, should not be a big deal. I would ensure that your fuse allows you to pull enough amps for both, though...

As to the rear support bracket, I would have to say that you will need it. Especially if you're going to use the plastic repair plate since, if I'm not mistaken, the radio is held in by the rear bracket and the places where it is secured to the dash. If you use a plastic repair plate, it may not be able to hold the weight on its own...

As to securing the plastic plate to the dash... Did they not supply you with instructions on how to install it? If they didn't, I would call the manufacturer of the plate and ask for assistance...
