My 69 mach1 (351w) has heavier (I think) gauge exhaust piping than normal. I want to buy new mufflers but don't know what size I/O ends to order. The O.D. of my exhaust pipe is 2 1/8 inches and I can't measure the I.D. without sawing the pipe (welded). I don't know if a 2 1/4 inch muffler can be clamped down to fit. Any ideas?
Yeah buy 2 1/8 mufflers so they fit. You can also go to autozone and get a step down pipe from one to the other.
An 1/8 inch is a lot of space to "clamp down" for what you're paying for mufflers you can spring and order a summit racing cat back w/ Turbo mufflers for a about 200-300. They have a great tone I've seen summit kits on fox body's and a 98 gt.
