Default Leaf Spring Purch Rubber and Pinion case bumper-Help

Help

If you follow this thread you know I have a built 351W and a 3.70 Detroit locker 9 inch in my 69 Coupe.Today we replaced the 4 leaf spring set with 5 leaf spring set and Shelby Traction Masters/Bars. In the process we discovered the spring perches were probably from a Ford truck and are larger that a 69 Mustang set also the leaf springs set on a rubber cushion which I have never seen done before. First question, is this rubber cushion the normal things to see in a Mustang. I don't remember it in my 65 mustang. Because the perch wasn't the normal perch the Traction bar bracket didn't bolts t the spring perch U-Bolts so we had to reengineer and Mig weld the bracket to the bottom of the perch. Anybody else ever have this problem? My nine inch has a hood that covers the Pinion axle nuckel. It appears that this cover is hitting the tunnel. Should I increase the preasure in my air shocks to around 50?
Even with this problem let me tell you this War Horse really hooks up. With out even trying I chirp second and third gears with the built C4. Unreal.

When I was replacing the leaf springs on my 68' coupe they were no rubber cushions for the springs. After searching many mustang catalogs, I don't see anyone who offers them either. SO my guess is that Mustangs never had them. Not sure however, but i think I'm right.

Default Leaf Spring Purch

Stratdeath

We seem to be running into each other all over the place. The leaf spring purch rubber must be because the purches are from a truck. I couldn't find any either in parts catologs. Your moniker refers to a Stratacaster-right? I still have my 335 and Tele. Sold my strat and SG for parts money.

You could probably make your own rubber perches, just cut to fit.

I love Strats, I wish I could trade in my Mex. Strat and find a nice 68' Sunburst Strat Too bad they cost as much as cars do!

Mustangs Unlimited has them for the 67-73. Removed the the pinion knuckle cover yesterday after school.

The Tele I have and the Strat I did have were a match set that I bought in 84 just before the Finder production went to Japan. Like I said I sold the Strat and my SG to our Youth Pastor. Like you I also have a Guild D50 I bought in 1980. So with the Tele, 335, and the D50 I get in enough trouble. Have a great day and finish your Coupe. I still have the front carpet/sound proofing/heat shielding and Drivers door Latch to fix and I will be done--for a while.
