Default 289 oil restriction

My dad has a ticking issue in his 289 and he thinks that it can be oil restriction going to the lifters

I know this is kinda general but what are some things to look for?

Please help Thanks!

Can you let us know if they are solid or hydraulic lifters. Assuming its not a Hipo 289 it's hydraulic. Regardless only check after the car is completely warm as the lifters can bleed and you need to let car warm to judge if problem goes away or stays. I'd check to make sure you Have zero lash on the rockers to the rod clearance. I would also check you have no bend rods. Roll each rod on a flat surface to check. I would also check the lifters like you originally mentioned and see if any are dished. Lifters bottoms should be flat. Best case scenario your adjusting your valve lash. Worst case your cam lobes are wiped and you need a rebuild. Keep us informed on what you find.

It has hydraulic lifters its NOT a hipo and the lifters and cam are new, its a voodoo cam kit from lunati

It ticks on the passenger side when air is sprayed into the oil gallery whole in the back it bubbles up around the lifters on the driver side but not the passenger
