Question 302 to 390 Conversion on a 70 Coupe

I've finally got my project car to the point where I can start pulling the engine (that and now having a lift helps ). Once I get the current 302 pulled out I'll be slipping in a 390. Any gotchas that I need to look out for?

TIA.

- Michael

You will need to match the FE to the proper trans., the front engine brackets will need to be FE brackets, accelerator linkage will be diff. a larger radiator will be needed, the frame mount(where the motor mount bolts) is different and front springs should be upgraded for the additional weight.
On a positive the FE was factory installed, so the parts were made, it will be a challenge to find some of them.
What do you have so far?

Fortunately/Unfortunately, none of it.

Now that I have an engine lift I can finally get the 302 and tranny out, giving me the room I need to re-do the engine bay and do some minor body work around the hood hinges. By the time I am done with the engine bay, I hope to have some more of the parts needed for the conversion. I've got a line on a 390 now that I might be picking up here in the next couple of weeks. From there I will start accumulating what I need....
