Default Frame rail replacement

I am getting ready to replace the full front frame rail om my 69 stang and I suppose I could just wait and see how it was done when I get it all apart but one of you probably know. Where the front frame rail attaches to the firewall, is that just welded around the edge of the frame to the firewall? Without everything being apart I cant see any weld there at all and I was wondering if any of you have done this replacement before.

I actually made a metal template of the frame rails so that when I take it out I will get the replacement exactly back where the original was so I am not to concerned about getting anything misaligned I was just curious to hear from others that have done this. I have to do the drivers side and I am going to do the passanger side as I already have the engine and everything out so why even take a chance on that rail going some time in the future I am replacing it as well.....

Thanks!

I haven't rreplaced a frame rail, but have done front fender aprons and radiator support. You probably can't see the actual weld, but there will be dimples from the factory weld on the lip where the rail and floor meet. These dimples is what has to be drilled out.
