Default Autolite 1100 carb trouble

I have a '65 coupe with a 200 six. I keep having to very slightly tweak the mixture screw in order to keep it running. It will be fine for a while and then will start to die when I come to a stop. Once I tweak the mixture screw slightly one way (back the other way the next time) it runs fine for a while, some times days and sometime minutes. I have rebuit the carb and a local professional has rebuilt it and I keep having to do tthe same thing. Any suggestions? I'm considering replacing it, but I would rather fix it or have it fixed. Thanks for any help. Pooker

Sounds like perhaps your choke isn't working properly. Because your choke obviously plays a roll with your mixture and if it's running you too rich and then running you back to normal(or vice-versa) then that seems like it could the problem, I'd look into that.

How much slop is there in the throttle shaft? If it is worn it will be impossible to get it running properly.
