Default What model year is this Mustang grill and gas cap?

Hi,
I aquired a grill and gas cap for a mustang and the guy I bought them from had no idea what year they are. My son is a Mustang nut and I got them for him but I would like to know the year they were made and if they are original or repo---Sure would appreciate any help you fellows out there can give me. Don't want my son to know I am a complete idiot when it comes to his beloved Mustangs.
On the back of the pony are the following numbers 86-118 over HM--middle of piece is PC with a C around those letters, near the front of the horse is USA. On the bottom center bracket is the numbers USA pc with C enclosure and c5zz 8213A, the two bars (corral?) extend on either side.
The gas cap is pretty much as seen, no numbers or stampings
Thank you for your help

Default Classic gas-cap!

Had to jog my memory back 37 years to when I was a lad of 23. Take that gas cap and compare it to the gas cap of a 1964 1/2-1965 'Stang'. I had a '66 coupe at the time and my girl friend had a 1965. My gas cap had a silver center and hers had that black center with the pony logo,........betcha I'm right!

Thanks for your help, I believe you right on that, today I found a old gas cap with the pony on black, it has some nicks and scratches though, and it does not have the red, white , blue banner behind the pony, but still it must be a 65 or so I would think. Still have not found out about the grille though--it is in terrific shape, so much so I wonder if it is a repro----Do they do that?
