Manual transmission question 289 vs. I6

Hi,
Will a 3 speed manual transmission from a 78 Inline Six, mate up with a 67 289 V8?
If not, does anyone have a 3 or 4 speed manual transmission near Western Michigan have one they would like to sell? I will be pulling the NOM I6 from my 65 Fastback and replacing it with a 67 289 and would like to keep the manual transmission. I bought a 67 coupe with the original 289 only it has an automatic.

Hello.

Sorry ,but,no it won't.

On the bright side,it should be a very simple matter to locate a 3 speed for the car for nearly nothing.A 4 speed will set you back a buck or two,though.Good luck.
