Default 200 L6 problems

I installed a cam from clifford performance this weekend along with an adjustable rocker assy from Ford six performance. After we got it all installed it finally ran for a little bit but we thought we had to adjust the rocker arms again so upon removing the valve cover we noticed that two of the push rods lips (clifford) at the top broke off and one of the adjuster screws sheered off. Is this an indication that we did something wrong or most likely crappy parts? We really had no instructions on how to install them besides an OLD book that I got from my dad that was printed in like the 70s. The guy that installed the rocker assy has been working on cars for quite a while and he said that he has never seen anything like this before (breaking). Any suggestions would be helpful, this stuff is driving me nuts.

Is it a solid lifter cam ? Did you check piston to valve clearance ? Maybe a valve kissed a piston and broke the pushrod . Usually it would just bend . Do you have any pics ?
