Default Correct trunk finish?

Should the inside of the trunk be body color or spatter paint on a 64 1/2 convertible? My car has spatter but i see a lot of restored cars with body color? Is spatter acceptable?

Hello. On a 64 1/2 the trunk area should be body color. The following should be natural. The gas tank top, filler neck, filler neck hose and clamps, trunk latch(both pieces)and the trunk latch mounting bolts and gas tank screws. The taillight wiring shouldn't have paint overspray on it.Neither should the taillight bucket assemblies. If by acceptable you mean that people won't go EEWWWW!! when they see it then yes it's acceptable. If you mean will an MCA gold card national judge not ding the dickens out of your car for it,then no,it isn't.Hope that helps.

Hi again. This is a 66 coupe but the trunk area is pretty much the same.Yours has the carriage bolt style spare tire mount and this one has the 'J' hook type, but all of the parts that are painted on this one are painted on yours and the ones that are natural on this are natural on yours. The car is silver blue.Hope that helps.
