Question 8" rears many ?'s

I have a 3.25 open rear. I want both tires to spin the same but still be able to corner. What is the difference between Posi., Mini spool, limited slip, 8.8, ect. I know what I want just don't know what to call it or what to look for. I hate being a one legger Pete

Posi-traction is a type of Limted Slip differential ... its what GM calls it.. Ford calls it Traction Loc or Trac-lok. 8.8 is the diamter of the ring gear.. most common ford ones are 7.5" (weak for high torque) 8.8 (in GT's and most cars) and 9" (in trucks and hardcore racers)
With any differential that is open, limited slip or not, the car will corner.. limited slip is just a way of transfering torque to the wheels equally if say one tire hits ice. a spool is a sleeve that locks the axles together so that no matter what, both tires turn the same.. used only for straight track.. corners horribly, if at all.. not street legal.
If your car only leaves one tread, just get a differential rebuild kit that has new slip clutches and you will be back to where you should be. while you're in there id put in some nice 3.55's or 3.73's.... that will liven up your differential...
did i about cover it?

For Gears, go with Ford racing... they are good strong gears with no negative talk as far as ive heard..
for an install kit, Summit sells a Ratech kit for about $100 that has everything you need. The trick is finding the reputable shop to install them that wont charge you an arm and a leg... expect about $300 for install labor.. if its less you'll be suprised, but that seems to be how much everyone gets charged.
