Default 1966 coupe brakes

I am installing a 1967 master cylinder on my 1966 coupe because with the 1967 model, you can acheive more pressure on your brakes. Anyways, does anybody know if i need a proportioning valve for Drum Brakes? I know you need one for disk brakes but i don't know about the manual drum brakes. Thanks, Garrett

Hello. The 67 M/C is a dual reservoir while the 66 is a single reservoir. This means that you will have to also use the distribution block for a 67 to keep the front and back brakes isolated from eack other. It's been my experience that, for some reason, the 65/66 drum brakes stop the car better than the 67/68 drum brakes.Upgrading to a dual reservoir M/C is an excellent idea for safety reasons, since on the 65/66 cars if anything fails, everything fails and you have no brakes, but the upgrade won't shorten the distance required to stop at a given speed. To answer your question no you won't be needing a proportioning valve, but yes you will be needing the 67 distribution block.Hope that helps.
