Question 66 front brakes, HELP!!!

I have just one last project to do on my 66 coupe that I have been restoring for over 2 years....the brakes. I have installed front discs using SSBC's brakes and have stock drums in the rear. I have bought a set of pre-bent lines from Laurel Mountain. I have the main line (from the MC to the rear) and the rear lines in place. But the front lines are kicking my rear! I know which line runs along the fire wall but how do I connect the stainless steel lines to the rubber ones on the front calipers. The lines I have are all male connectors and it would seem that I need some sort of coupler to connect the lines. Do I need a different lines since I am using disc brakes (if so, is there a part #, source?)Also, I am not sure which lines connect to which port on the distrubution block. If anyone has done this recently or has a diagram (I have the service manual but it is not much help) they drew up that would very helpful! I want to get this pony back on the road since it the weather is finally getting better in New England!!

This may not be a big help but did you try calling Laurel Mountain or SSBC to see if either of them have a conversion kit that would include what you need to connect these parts? Otherwise, try Classic Tube on the internet.

Another option: any shop that does a lot of brake jobs (Midas??) should be able to hook you up with something to make these pieces fit together, especially if the parts are off the car and you can carry them in. Or try a local NAPA during non-peak hours (again, best if you can take the parts into the shop).

The male fitting on the steel line goes into a female fitting on the rubber line. There is a cip that attaches that fitting to a bracket.

Since you asked the question I'm guessing you may not have the rubber lines. If not spend the extra bucks for braided stainless.

Distribution block has 4 ports.
Port1 is on the front
Ports 2 and 3 are underneath along the side
Port 4 is on the back of the block (closest to the firewall).

Port 4 currently accepts the single rear brake line. Remove
this line and plug port4 with the supplied plug.
Now run the rear line to the proprtioning valve.

Ports 2 and 3 remains the same (these run to the front left and right calipers).

Port1 should be connected to the rear resevoir on your new master cylinder.

Finally; connect the front resevoir port to the proprtioning valve.

You may need to go to an automotive plumbing shop to get
your connectors sorted out but as previously posted; the front
lines should connect to the rubber hoses supplied in the kit.

Braided won't give you anything that a nice new set of rubber lines
will give you (apart from looks - but whose going to be looking there anyway!)

Make sure you check for leaks - my proprtioning valve leaked through the thumbscrew straight out of the box.
SSBC sent me a new one - no questions asked.

Have fun!

Braided steel lines will give you a much firmer brake paddle feel, while the rubber lines will give a softer feel to the paddle.
