Default Cams for 347 stroker

Ok, I have my eye one either the XE266HR or XE274HR for my street 347 stroker with a dual-plane intake. Is the 266 too small for a 347? Its made for a 351W so I would figure it would be alright. I still want it to sound lopey, but I like the stronger lowend on the 266. What are the characteristics of a cam that make the lopey idle? Is it the combination of duration and lift? What is the lowest duration you could go and still have a lopey idle? Thanks.

Overlap is actually what causes lope IIRC. The actual explanation for lope WILL make your head hurt (I know it did for me). Basically, as long as you're putting in any sort of performance cam, it'll lope. You'd have to get WAAAY too small a cam for waht you've got for it not to lope.

post the heads, intake, headers, pistons or calculated compression, carb, intake up and I'll use EA3 to pick a good cam. Also, include ur goals, what the car is used for and what rear end gears.
HTH
PS Sounds like either cam is big enough for a 347, just guessing from what ive seen the XE274H do, but theres probably better choices out there, not to mention custom cams
