Default whats the widest tire and rim size for 65 mustang

Whats the widest tire and rim size you can fit on a 65 Mustang coupe,thanks , any info greatly needed

rim offset is critical on the front or they catch on the front guards

This chart should help. It looks like the largest width is 7 inches front and 8 on the back.

Gee...that sure is an old chart

That represents the 'safe' assumptions retailers like to make.

Here is what people are really running:

just click on the 65/6 chart.

In my expereince 8 inch wide with various backspacing depending on diameter.

For example:
17x8 4.75 BS with 235 45 17 usually works for most people front and rear if you have done the shelby dropped and have the car aligned properly.

That is a very helpful link. I'll be playing it safe on my car, but it is nice to know exactly how safe I am playing it.
