Anybody know if a 66 Comet rearend will fit without much trouble into a 66 Mustang?

I can't seem to get reliable measurements (except that spring perches are centered 4 inches from the flange) and am wondering if anyone knows if the switch will bolt on directly, or what mods will I need to do.

The Mustang currently has the 4-lug pattern and I'd like to change it to the 5-lug from the Comet.

Mods: keep driveshaft (same C4 trans)? Or new/custom one? Anything else?

Barely room to work, no time to work, need to strip Comet and get it off the street (Haul Junk Cars Free!) and get everything cleaned and "rebuilt" for a quick weekend or two install into the Mustang.

No real salvage yards around that have any Mustangs or much else, so any info and help is appreciated.

4" from each flange sounds like Mustang perch position to me. Comets have the same rear, so I'd say you're in business!

And I hear ya on the junkyards! No 60s Ford stuff at all up here either (cept for a JUNK 63 Continental)
