Default Starter problem 66 289

Just pulled and reinstalled transmision along with the starter. Starter is about 6 months old and was working fine before this work. When I tryed to start engine got a wizzing sound from the starter. Engine still turns but seems slow. Starter gears do not seem to be grinding. Any ideas about my problem would be appreiciated.
Thanks Scott

Try loosening the mount bolts, shake the starter, and retighten them.
May just be bound a little.

Ixtalan may be right about the binding, but you could also have an electrical issue.

Make sure your connections to the battery are clean and tight.

Is the battery fresh? Charge it if not.

Check your connections to the battery, the solenoid, etc. If anything is loose or poorly grounded, it can cause a problem.

Did you disconnect the battery properly, negative ground side first, before you disconnected the Starter? If not, you may have damaged the solenoid.

Finally, if you let the Starter hang by its cables, even for a minute, you might have a wiring problem between the starter and the solenoid.

You might need to add shims to your starter so it has the correct distance. I got a Hi-Torque mini starter from SummitRacing. MY car starts so much better and it sounds cool, too.
