there is no such thing as a 1964 1/2 Mustang, all VINs start with a 5...that being said, the vin is stamped all over the fender aprons under the hood. Look at the fender apron infront of the driver's shock tower.

And before I get called an idiot, I know all of the differences between the early and late 1965 Mustangs, and for those people that swear that there is a 1964.5, show me one VIN and one part number.....

Hello. If you will raise the hood you will see,on the driver's side, a row of six bolts holding the lip of the fender to the car.Along the lip you will see where there is like a notch. In that area, on the inner fender panel, you will see the vin stamped on the car.It is generally accepted that if the car was built prior to mid august of 64 then it's a 64 1/2.
Twister, let's try this one more time.Everybody knows that the first mustang built had the vin 5F08F100001, which is a 65 vin. This is not news, just like it isn't news that differences between a 64 1/2 and a 65 are strikingly more significant than the differences between a 65 and a 66. '64 1/2' is a term that is used by enthusiasts to distinquish between two strikingly different cars, just like the galaxie folks say '63 1/2 to distinquish between the two very different body styles and the availability of the new 427 cid motor. The fact that everybody knows what you're talking about when you say 64 1/2 should indicate that the term has meaning. Austin Healey never called a car the 'Bug-eye Sprite' but everybody knows what that is.Let it go.

a half model year means that car is released as that year in the midle of the production year. Ford has done this a lot, and there were TWO 63 1/2's, the fastback galaxie and the fastback Falcon. The half year Mustangs were in 1968 and 85. As for the first 1965 Mustang, The Henry Ford Museum has it on display, listed as a 1965 model, please tell Ford that they are wrong
