Exclamation Steering column wiring removal !HELP!

I am recently in the process of replacing my turn signal switch on a 1966 coupe. I got the old switch off but am having a ton of trouble getting the old wires out of the steering column. No matter how hard I pull, I can’t get them to come out. Is it easier to take them out 1 at a time, or is there something else I have to disconnect? I planned on connecting the old wires to the new ones, then pulling the old ones out and feeding the new ones through at the same time. Any suggestions or easier ways to do this? Thanks, Garrett

Pardon me for asking an obvious question----are you aware that the wires go into a connector under the dash and must be disconnected from the connector before attempting to remove them?
Be ABSOLUTELY SURE you note the color code of each wire CAREFULLY before you take it from the connector so you can insert the new wires into the correct location on the connector. It would be a REALLY good idea if you were to match the new wire color codes and the old wire color codes to be sure they're the same before you pull out the old ones.
Once you're sure you won't have a problem knowing where each new wire goes into the old connector, then you can disconnect the old wires from the connector, tie them together with a long length of cord and slide them out of the column, being sure the loose end of the cord is still hanging out below the column.DON"T LOSE THE CORD INTO THE COLUMN. Then untie the cord from the old wires, re-tie it onto the new wires and pull the new wires down through the column using the loose cord still hanging below the column. Connect the new wires into the old connector and you're on your way!!
By the way, this job is a PITA and is not a 2 minute job!!!!! It'll take patience and time!!!! Allow PLENTY of time!!!
Good Luck!!!

Default Wiring

after much frustration i finally got the old wires out. I did have them disconnected at the bottom and didn't have to worry about the color of the wires since i had an oem part and the colors were the same. My problem getting the wires out resulted in a tangled knot in the column, so i had to take each wire out individually until i got to the two that kept getting stuck, and finally got those out. I don't know how they got to be such a mess in the column. Well anyways, thanks a lot, Jay67
