Default 1966 Autolite 2100 Float problem?

The car will start but after running for about a minute gas starts pouring out of the carb all over the engine and it soon drowns itself and dies. Can this be fixed by getting a rebuild kit for the carb? The carb is less than 2 years old and is from Pony Carb. And where can I get a rebuild kit for a autolite 2100, everything I have found is for a ford 2100 or holleys. Thank you for any advice.

Hello. The needle and seat assembly is hanging up on you. This typically refered to as a float problem, but it is actually the needle and seat. The Borg/Warner part number for the rebuild kit is 10035D and is available at any major auto parts store. They can use this number and cross over to whatever brand of kit they're pushing. If you remove the top of the carb you'll see the needle hanging on the end of the float arm. There is also a little clip hold the float arm in place.Just pop the little clip loose, remove the float, replace the needle with the new one and you should be good to go.While you're in there you might as well replace the brass seat also.It comes with the kit and unscrews in the usual manner with a 3/8 socket.Hope that helps.
