okay i bought this car froma guy for 500$ i have since put in 3-4g and its ready to paint i have done mods to the motor and i was wondering on how to identify what year 302 it is im pretty sure its not the stock one it has smaller spark plugs not the big ones the 5/8 size but i need to figure out what is got year and that it should be on the block or somthing but i need help with that

As far as I remember, you can find the #'s on the block, under where the heads mount, or by the oil pan, can't remember which. They will be hard to find probably, but the heads are where the plugs screw in, so you should check those too. There are some Mexican blocks, but I've never seen one or even heard that much about them, but that might be something to consider also. I know I'm not a big help, but someone will come along to clear it up better.

lol yea its all good i have never hear of a mexican block but they did have replacement block back then but idk if this is the right block or not or if it just had different heads on it but yea...

I believe that on the right side of the block, above where the starter motor is, that there are casting numbers on the block. If the engine is original, it will be cast as C8(first two characters/numbers), or C9. For example, C9AE-1234-A. However you may have the original year block, with later heads. The casting number situation applies here too. You may need to remove a valve cover to find the number though. The first letter in the casting number sequence is the Decade (i.e.C=the 60s.)etc. The second character/number is the year in the Decade(i.e. 9=1969.) Hope this helps. Desert Dale.

Aww SWEET!!!!!!!!!! thanks i will look later and post what i find my motor rapps up quick even before my modds so idk but the heads dont have very big ports.... but idk dont take much to spin the tire with the 2.92 gears i havent put my 3.50s in yet i got em though i just did the 5.0 gears
