Default HELP - 1 wire alternator install

I just bought a 1 wire 100 amp alternator from Tuff Stuff for my 66 Mustang. Do I hook up a wire directly from the positive pole on the battery to the alternator or from the alternator to the positive pole on the starter solenoid? Do I have to ground the alternator? What about the old voltage regulator? Do I just unhook it and leave the wires where they are or can I take them out of the engine bay? Now...if I no longer have the voltage regulator, will my ammeter guauge on the dash work?

I have an old Falcon that I just wired a Delco alt. on. Run a wire from the BAT post on the alt to the + terminal on the battery.

You can just remove your old regulator or use the amp meter wire on it to connect your two wire harness on your alternator to. One of the two wires goes to the meter and it will read. But I'm not sure which one. You have a 50/50 change of getting it though.

I had a 65 fastback that over the years different owners had butchered in lots of ways-wiring was 1 of them.I put a new battery in and was still having to jump it off after only a few starts.I took it to an alternator/starter shop and they put a 1 wire alternator in and they hooked the wire to the positive on the solenoid, which in effect is the same as the positive on the battery. So whichever way you want will work.It seemed to me that the solenoid hook up looked neater than an extra wire to the battery.I have sold that car,but I think I remember the guage working--not sure. But by golly it would start every time, even after sitting for a month or more
