I had a 65 fastback that over the years different owners had butchered in lots of ways-wiring was 1 of them.I put a new battery in and was still having to jump it off after only a few starts.I took it to an alternator/starter shop and they put a 1 wire alternator in and they hooked the wire to the positive on the solenoid, which in effect is the same as the positive on the battery. So whichever way you want will work.It seemed to me that the solenoid hook up looked neater than an extra wire to the battery.I have sold that car,but I think I remember the guage working--not sure. But by golly it would start every time, even after sitting for a month or more |
