Unhappy Help with 1965 Coupe

I need some help with my 65 coupe, it is a nice mostly original Mustang, but I have a couple of issues I can't figure out. It drives like poop, when I accellerate it moves to the right, when I let off it moves back to the left. When I hit a dip or bump in the road it feels real loose. I have had the car on a rack and every thing under the car looks tight, shocks are new, torque boxes ar not loose and no rust. I also need to know the path of the gas gauge wire from the tank to the gauge. Thanks for your input in advance!!
John

Those front ends will feel real loose after driving the newer cars. Check ball joints by jacking that front wheel off the ground, and shake the entire wheel. If there's slack there, just replace the joints. When did you last check your motor mounts???

What you indicate sounds to me that you have movement in your rear axle. Check your rear spring bushings on the springs and the upper bushings in the shackle assy. Check for tightness of all the rear spring mounting bolts, axle u-bolts also. Check the bolts and use factory specs. especially the axle u-bolts for the correct torque. Over torqueing the u-bolt nuts will warp the spring mounting plates. The fuel gauge wire will run from the tank sender then to the right of the car then up into the trunk across the tank to the left over the left rear fender well and then down along the rocker panel in the same wire bundle as the tail light wires. This bundle will lead to a multi wire connector. the other end of this connector will lead to the gauge cluster assy. Hope this helps. Chuck

Also check your steering gear box for turn play.
Can be adjusted too.
Mine was really loose after 100k miles.
