Red face 66 coupe heater box removal

The heater core on our 66 is not circulating water and I would like to remove it for inspection. I've searched for the bolts that hold it in and can only find the one by the passenger side vent door. Where else are they located as they are not obvious? Thanks for any help.

It is inside the heater box. You will have to remove the heater box, it can be a pain. The hoses are pulled thru the firewall. You can take the box apart by removing clips that hold it together.

I actually need to remove the entire heater box. This is where I'm having the problem. Only the one screw is obvious. I read that the first thing is to remove the four nuts in the engine compartment that hold the blower motor to the firewall. Does this make sense? Thanks, Steve.

Yes, those four bolts in the engine compartment around the fan motor are what holds the heater box in place.

I go into detail of replacing the heater core on my website http://www.jasonsgarage.com/heater_core_replacement.htm

yep, pull the cap-type nuts on the firewall side around the blower motor. then you should be able to pull the entire core/motor/housing into the passsenger side floor after loosening a couple of bolts or nuts on the inside that help suspend the assembly on the inside, look closely they are up under the dash.
