Default 68 problems/advice needed

I just aquired a 68 mustang that just has a couple cosmetics that I need to take care of along with a little idling problem along with some problems listed below that I was looking for some help on. It is a 289 (guy told me it was bored to a 302, but that is not possible unless it was stroked also) bored out (I'm not sure if it is 30 or 60 over since he didn't know if it was stroked also). I just bought it cause it looked in good condidtion, ran well, and the price was right. It has a 4 barrel holly carb, some type of racing cam, long tube headers, a short throw shifter, and top loader I believe. Not sure if gears were added or not. I just picked it up for a little project. It does not have power steering or power brakes and no A/C installed.

Okay here are a couple things that I am looking for some help on:

1. I cannot hold the clutch in while in a turn, it seems to be rubbing on the steering column or something I believe. I can turn the wheel but it is rubbing on something and pretty much a killer to turn. The clutch also needs some adjusting but I just thought that the rubbing was pretty wierd. I need to get a second pair of eyes so I can examine it more, but anyone got any ideas on how to fix that? I would really like to install a hydraulic clutch if that is possible. Can someone help me out on this one? Parts, ease of install etc.

2. This car pretty much takes a mile to stop, so I was wondering what would be the best option to change to either just disks up front or disks all around? I know I want disks atleast in the front along with a power booster. Also maybe a dual MC. Can someone who has done this install please give me some advice on this? Parts, ease of install, etc.

3. I have never done a power steering install, and I was wondering if it is at all possible? How much it would cost and how difficult it would this be. Parts, ease of install etc.

4. I also want to install an A/C in this thing as I am in Louisiana and it tends to get a little warm out there. Wondering if it can be installed in dash or does it have to hang down under it? Could I get some advice from someone with parts, ease of install etc. Would I need to get another radiator in order to keep her cool?

5. Finally, I was wondering if any of the above modification would need to be done a certain way in order to not affect each other. So I pretty much would like to know what I would need to do to put in power steering, power brakes, A/C, and a hydraulic clutch? All these things without any adverse affect on each other or other system in the car.

I am not too worried about keeping it completely stock, but I don't want anything too outlandish.

This is a pretty long list of stuff to ask for, but I really appreciate all the help that is offered, and I thank you in advance.

#1 I have no clue. I have a C4.
#2 Get at least front disc, you'll be glad you did.
#3 Depends on what mgfr you go with on the price. I would try to find a 68 with PS, and just rob everything off it.
#4 Dont know, A/C steals too much HP for me to want, and I live in Hell.
5# Just remember, you will need all new pullies out front. You probably have only 1 groove now, and you will need 3 groove with all those installed. Good hunting, and keep us posted on the progress. You're ttt again too.

I heard of this problem happening before and it was the Z bar interferring with the steering rag joint. The Z bar may be bent or installed incorrectly.

'68s should already be a dual MC unless someone redid the brakes system in the past with '67 or before parts. Dual MCs were standard beginning in 1968 due to safety reasons.

There are kits to convert to disk and also people who scavange parts from other cars to do the swap. I can't help you, my '68 still has drums on all 4s and have no interest in converting. They do take a little longer to stop but I don't go racing the car around plus with them in good shape and adjusted I find they aren't too bad for my needs.

I don't have much knowledge for the other Q's

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

I i looked at the bar, and I dont know if it is bent or I just need to adjust it. It is definately hitting the joint and I kind of tore it up a little, but it should still work ok. I dont want to need to buy a whole new bar. You think I could just take it off and get a torch and bend it a little or just bend it. I dont think that I would be able to adjust it with the screw rod since it will still be on the same plane and hit it. I was hoping nothing was bent, but I guess I will have to find some way to fix it.

I'll pass on the other questions, but I can tell you about aftermarket A/C units. You can get them either in in dash or under dash units. As a general rule, under dash units are slightly less expensive, but look horrible, in my opinion. Vintage Air, in San Antonio, Texas has an in dash unit that I had installed in my 67 fastback. It is hard to tell it's not a factory unit---it has 2 side vents (slightly lower than where the factory vents were) and a dual center vent (that's in the same place as the factory unit). It uses a modern Sanden compressor and it does a great job cooling the car. I live in South Florida and it's hotter than hell here, and I use the fastback daily, and in over 2 years I've had no issues with the unit.
It was a bit of a bear installing, but if you take your time it eventually will go together well. One of the big things is that it uses you original heater controls, even if you didn't have factory air in the car!
As far as cooling, if you have the stock 2 core radiator, you're going to need to change to at least a 3 core radiator to keep things cool. The old 2 core was just barely capable of cooling the car w/o A/C , with the A/C unit you'll definitely be changing the radiator sooner or later (most probably sooner)!
I replaced my 2 core to a 3 core Modine (about $180.00 installed) and haven't had any cooling problems since.
Hope that helps.
