Default 1980 mercury capri

i have a 1980 mercury capri with a l6 3.3L 200cid i recenlty found a L6 unknown liters 300cid engine that was running out of a ford f250 i took the carb cuase my old carb was just dumping fuel into the engine so i put the new carb on(the 300cid carb) and now it takes like 15-20 pumps of the gas pedal to get the car started anyone know the problem?

It could be too small a carb for the replacement engine, or the diaphragm spray pump on the carb is going bad. Check the carb and rebuild if necessary.

I'm sorry to hear that. Just put some liquid wrench on the valve guide and then hit the spring "lightly" with a small hammer until the spring releases. Then rebuild it when you have more time.

Hard starting could be choke not working, timing way off, or some other things. Those are the first 2 things I'd check tho.
