Default Mustang II suspension for a 66'

Questions about Mustang II suspensions. I’ve heard they’re one of the best suspension systems you can have for your Stang…if you can get it to fit in the model year that you have.

Is this true? Are the Mustang II suspensions worth the money and effort of trying to fit it into a 66’? I have a 66’ Stang with the original 40 year old suspension system for the 6 cylinder it used to have. There’s no engine in the car now, but I plan on converting everything for a V8 (302)….starting with the suspension and steering.

If the Mustang II suspension is good-to-go…what modifications would I need to do so it’ll fit in a 66’? Any ideas on how much this should cost? How much is too much? Thanks for the help.

Pinto suspension was designed for a car with a 2.3, and 9 inch rotors are tiny

I agree with Twister, I don't think they're worth the price both monetarily and fabrication wise. There are a lot of nice bolt on suspension systems out there that will do the job nicely. The mustang II front end wasn't really designed to take the weight of a larger car with a v8. All the best,--Chuck

Best? Not even close. From a performance standpoint, give me a modified stock setup. From an engineering standpoint, give me a modified stock setup. From a cost standpoint, I'll take a modded stock system. From an ease of installation standpoint, give me a modded stocker. From a comfort standpoint, give me a modified stock system with a power rack.

The MII setup was designed 1972-1973 and before.....not exactly modern.

Default Here is your help!

Mustang II IFS Kit

Use the above link to get your answers.

I have a 66 Fastback and have decided to this route since it is the best value & best performance for your dollar.

I disagree with the one that said it is dated. This suspension has been revised and upgrade and is the most sought after system for road and track.

It also gives you improved steering angle. It's very easy to install and makes for a stronger front end!

It gets rid of the shock towers and allows you more engine area for sweet header system for your 302 v8.

I have a 302 v8 for sale if you have interest.

Good luck with your project.

I have drove a 68 mustang with one and a mod motor it handled like crap. The mustang 2 kits are only good on a street rod since its a show car not a road car. You'll probably have ackerman with one and also the extra load put on the front frame rails i wouldn't trust.Opentracker Racing Products Total Control Products GLOBAL WEST SUSPENSION components for CAMARO MUSTANG CHEVELLE NOVA TUBULAR ARMS BRAKES BUSHINGS SUBFRAMES RACING those are the only suspensions id use on a early mustang. If you want to notch the shock towers RRS :: Classic Vintage Ford Mustang Disc Brake and Coil Over Strut Kit :: Vintage RHD LHD Rack and Pinion :: coil overs they sell will let you.If you got the money the best you can buy is Griggs Racing Products
