Question Any way to replace rear main seal in 1968 Mustang without removing engine?

Is there any easy way to replace a two piece rear main with the engine in the car?
It's in a 68 w/ C4.

Thanks

Hello. Yes, there is, but it isn't any easier. You have to take the idler arm loose so that you can drop the steering linkage far enough to remove the oil pan and then remove the transmission, or at least get it out of the way. If you do it like that it almost certainly still be leaking when you finish, though.Along with the new oil pan gasket, most likely. It's best to go ahead and just snatch the motor out and have it upside down on an engine stand so that you can remove every trace of engine oil, set the pan straight down on the new gasket set, let everything sit for a while and then put it back in the car as a sealed assembly. Hope that helps.
