Exclamation Need Help with Fuel and Brake Lines. Don't Know Where to Start?

so the front suspension is complete, and im working on getting a rear end on sooner or later, so i figured id need to know about brake and fuel lines. I did the discbrakeswap or granada swap and so far i have the spindles and all that on except i havent bothered with the fuellines or mastr cylinder yet. Take in consideration this car is down to its bones, nothing is one it. Heres the problem, i dont know what lines i need to run to th back of the car. Ive read alittle and so far i know i need a fuel line and a brake line. the fuel line is going to be 3/8 but what about the brake line? and is the fuel pump electric or mech and is it in the front or back?

if anyone has finished this task of redoing lines, please help

thanks
myls

If you're going to use an electric fuel pump, you'll want it as close to the tank as possible. They push better than they pull.

Hi, Just finished a '66 and I have an electric fuel pump in the back. Mean is right they do push better. Problems to address include

.. where to mount it especially if you are using a stock tank.
I dropped a plate between the tank and rear end and mounted the pump and a big filter back there hanging just below the tank.
Fabrication can be a pain with a narrowed 9in rear and dual exhaust.

..Where are you going to get power for the pump ? I spliced a wire under the dash and fried part of my front harness. It pulls a lot of amps so make the wire is heavy enough and fused !!

..You will need something to shut the pump off if you get into an accident. Nothing worse than 6+ gph pumping out at an accident scene uncontrolled. I added a switch to my oil system that shuts the pump down if oil pressure is lost. Where are you going to attach to get the oil pressure reading and where are you going to get power ?

Plan ahead if done right this doesn't come cheap. Wondering why most recommend a mechanical pump ?

Personally I would rather have the mechanical pump. Less cost and safer.

About the brake lines order a set from inline tube or some other place online that sells premade DOT approved lines and work your mods around these lines. This is one area you don't want to mess around with. You can order lines with custom fittings / bends etc. for disc brakes / dual reservoirs etc.

Hope this helps...
