Default Which tranny idea is better?

Which would be more inexpensive, rebuild the C4 currently in the car and beef it up with a shift kit or buy a brand new street/strip transmission?

I went through this a while back, priced a rebuild and a new one out of the catalogs...not much price differance. Ended up deciding to go with a manual though. Car was originally an auto but somewhere in the past somebody hung the clutch pedal in it since what I really wanted was a stick thats the way I'm going...thats not any cheaper by the way. Anyway about a year ago the rebuild was going to run about 7 hundred plus a converter, the after market was going to run around nine if I remember correctly...I'd be more inclined to go with the new one I've had a few bad experiences with rebuild shops, if you use one watch them like a hawk and ask for all your old parts back...and make sure they ARE your parts.
