And it was a newer truck at the time. I pointed it out to my co-worker, who was probably 18 or 19, and he'd never seen one like it. I told him that they all used to be that way... |
That became some entertainment back in 1998 when I bought my 68 Mustang and took it down to the DMV for inspection and permanent registration. At the time they wouldn't allow you to take it through yourself, an employee there took it in the building while the owner would wait in a separate room.
I got called out because they wanted to know why I had my parking brake hooked to the windshield washers! On 68s the washers are a small pedal alongside the drivers kick panel you have to step on, and it does resemble a parking brake pedal. The 19 or 20 year old kid had never seen the parking brake handel that you have to pull out from under the dash! He also mentioned I was being failed for nonworking highbeams and horn. He started tugging on the turn signal lever trying to get the brights on to show me. I had to show him where the switch was. I'm glad he didn't break the signal lever off!
I had to ask what the problem was with the horn and he pressed down on the steering wheel hub and nothing happened. He had never seen a horn ring and only thought it was decoration.
Needless to say I had to wait after he went through the car for him to get someone else over for an opinion before he signed off on it. He still thought the highbeam switch was jury rigged and not how the car came from factory.
