Exclamation Battery Issues! Help!

We just picked up our 1969 Mustang and put in a new battery. When we connected one of the connectors to the battery the other one began sparking without stopping. I was wondering, what could be causing that? Is it a grounding issue? I took pictures of where the ground wire runs to and how that is set up. Any help would be great. Thank You!

Yep, I'd say either bad ground or bad cable. I'd replace the cables, remove the solinoid, and shine the metal bare underneath it (it grounds through the bolts) and make sure the block to chassis ground is good (jumper cable is the test there )

Ok, here is the deal. You did say that the pictures that you posted are of the ground wire and its routing right? If that is the case, and based on your pictures, then your problem is that the ground wire goes to the block and not the starter relay. Where your ground wire is now located is where the positive battery cable is supposed to be attached. You need to double check and make absolutely positive that the negative side of the battery and its cable run to the block and the positive side of the battery and its cable run to the starter relay(solenoid). If they are reversed you will see a lot of sparking and then you will blow the battery up. Not a pretty sight.

Is that cable that is attached to the starter relay (solenoid) attached to the negative side of the battery? If it is, then attach it to the positive side. The negative cable goes to the block.
