Default New member questions

Hey Howsit! My name is Blake I am from Hawaii I just picked up a 66 coupe and love it. It was sitting in my freinds Dad yard just rusting right near the beach. It has a 289 c code motor with the performer 289 eldelbrock intake, dual flowmasters and the edelbrock 600 carb. I have the cruise-o-matic trans and was wondering if it is the c-6 or c-4? I would like to know if they make shift kits for these. Also a freind said it is a pony car because of a of the horses embroidered on the interior which is blue and pearl. I just put a new radiator and waterpump changed the motor oil and primered the whole car black. Any idea how much HP the cat back carb and intake manifold may have added assuming the motor is a fresh 200hp c code? Any reccomendations otherwise? Thanks alot for reading Alohas Blake

The trans. in your car is a C-4. The C-6 trans was used only on the big block engines which were not installed in Mustangs until the 67 model year.

Shift kits are available for your C-4. B&M makes one I know for sure. Make sure to indicate what year the trans is because there are some minor differences between the years.

When you state "cat back carb" I don't quite know what you mean. Cats are a reference to catalitic converters which are installed in the exhaust system of newer cars for emission purposes.

The interior was an option called a "pony interior" and is a desireable addition to your car.

Horsepower in my estimate would be about 220 with a good tune. This is only a guess and subject to others opinions.

All the best, ---Chuck

Thanks for that. I didnt add a comma between cat back and carb. I was not aware that these cars did not have catalitic converters. What HP/torque is this trans capable of handling? And what cam would you reccomend to liven up this c code motor?
