I know that it says not to be vague in the title but i do have a few questions...Well I am looking at buying a 1966 Mustang fastback, for my first car. It is all there but it is a little rough, and it runs. The only thing I'm dissapointed about is that it is a 6 cyclinder. So I already had a 351W from a Torino, I believe it is either a 1970 or a 1971. So my first question would be
How well would a 351W fit into a 1966 mustang engine compartment?
Also I know the basics of the mustang in and out, but what are your thoughts on a supercharger over a carburation? I have been looking at a Paxton Novi 1200, i thought that it was pretty neat, I would most likely get it if i could get that 351 in the mustang. Though I know my father would go with the carburetors, he's old school...he has Mopars.
One last thing for now, since the mustang that I was looking at was a little rough, where would be a good place to find either repro parts or refurbished parts? I have been looking at this one site, it has like everything that you would need. But since I am a novice with with Ford prices, I have always been around Plymouths, im not quite sure if they're right, the site said about $320 for front fenders without delivery. Is that a reasonable price? My father said that it sounded cheap, though i do know plymouth parts are more expensive. so can anyone recommend any good sites for parts?
The 351 Windsor will fit in the 66, but it will be a little tight. Putting a Paxton on it will increase the horsepower consicerable. Here are lists of places where you can find parts. Thumnail these or add to your favorites so you will always have a comprehensive list.

I would still like to get some peoples opinion on superchargers and carburetors. Also I would like to know maybe some other brands that make good looking superchargers like Paxton. Though I don't yet have a mustang I do have that 351W and I really want to dress it up.
You need to know you're looking at more than an engine swap. A 6 cylinder suspension front and rear is different than an eight and will need to be converted also. Easily done but an expense you need to be aware of and it needs to be done before the car is drivable.
If this is you're first car pass on the SC for now. There is a whole lot of work to do to it before you consider a SC. Learn the car and how to care for it first.

Thank you Preacher, though I do not have the car yet that is a point that I didn't really consider before. Aftermarket springs that are heavy duty enough shouldn't be too hard to find for a decent price.
Not springs but you're going to need a different rear end the one one thats under a 6 cyl car won't hold up to any V8 and the car will come with 4 lug wheels not five you'll need to change out the whole suspension not just springs. Brakes should also be upgraded. It's a big job but one that's done often, nothing to shy away from it's a common conversion but it is a lot more involved than just changing springs.

Alright, do you have any prices in mind in what a conversion might cost, and maybe what kind of rear end do you think would suit my needs? As you can see, I still have a lot to learn
Pick up some parts catalogs, NPD, Year One, CJ Pony and the Paddock are some decent ones. A suspsnsion kit will cost around 350-400 bucks a steering kit another 200 or so and that's not counting the brakes and five lug spindles. The rear end is easier you shoud be able to find a eight inch rear end for about 100 bucks or so new leaf springs and bushings will set you back another 150 or so last time I checked. The good news is this is a straigt bolt in conversion no mods to the frame are needed as far as I know.

Also , if you like the car and go and get it think about leaving it a six for now, nothing wrong with a six cylinder car. Take your time fix what needs to be fixed get it looking good and then at some point in the future do the conversion. That will give you time to learn what you need to learn and put some cash away for the work ahead.

That's a good point on keeping the 200 for now. You can actually squeeze quite a bit of power out of them (obviously not the the extent of a V8) and have some fun. There are some great 6 banger sites out there with parts and info on beefing up the 6's. They're pretty bullet-proof engines!
Thats a good point, I could do some unique things with the inline 6, and it would be relatively "cheap" (not that much now is cheap). The only reasony why I was talkin bout putting a 351W in it is that I already have, also my dad has always had high output motors, so he doesn't really like the idea of a 6 banger. Well thank you also for your input, it has made me think. I will check those sites out right now.

That's cool man. If you already have it you might as well get it into the mix. I just think there's a knee-jerk reaction people have concerning the sixes and wanting to swap them for something bigger. It sounds like with the right path you and your dad wouldn't have any problems wediging the 351W in there. Just keep us posted!
