Hello I am in hopes I can gather some info to hopefully solve a very frustrating problem with my brake lights. I have a 66 Mustang 289 C4 Auto with power brake booster/dual bowl master cylinder-that I installed. The pedal is adjustable and I also installed a new brake light switch. The issue I'm having is when I adjust the brake pedal(usually further up from the floor) the drivers side brake light and turn signal won't work. Funny thing is before I adjusted the pedal everything worked just fine. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.
Check your wiring from the turn signal switch.
They probably got pulled loose while you were installing the new rod and booster.
The brake light wires run through the turn signal switch before they go to the rear.
I went out to the garage tonight and unplugged and replugged the turn signal switch and bam now both brake lights work along with both turn signals. When you have the turn signal on and the wheel comes back straight is the turn signal supposed to turn off? I ask because mine stays on until I turn it off.
The turn signal should cancel. If it's not cancelling then the plastic tabs on the turn signal cancel cam are busted off, which is common after 40 years.
when you replace the turn signal switch for the cancelling cam not working be careful that you put the wires back into the underdash plug correctly its fun and games to correct if you mix them up
