3M body glaze

So I have spent the past few months cutting out rusted sheetmetal, welding everything back in, grinding down welds, sanding, pounding out small dents and dings, bondo patching, and more sanding.
Over all everything looks and feels pretty good.
I was going to start feathering, guide coating, and blocking out the car with the body glaze.
Recommended grit is 150 but finishing it with 150 grit still seems a bit harsh in my opinion.
If I go to a lighter grit, will the body primer get good mechanical adhesion to the panels if I use a lighter grit sand paper?
Thanks in advance.
