How do you do burnouts with an automatic? I've tried in both park and in neutral. The only thing that happened is my engine revved... and that's about it. I don't want to be a complete noob when I get to the track. Any suggestions?

V6 mustangs have a torque limiter. You need a tuner in order to remove it then you can try but still its not that easy. I had true duals and a 93 octane tune and I still found it difficult to spin the tires without water on the ground.

Oh also I'm not sure if you know or not but only one tire spins on a V6 while doing a burnout. You need a Ford Racing Tlok installed to get both spinning.
Oh and one more thing DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT do a nuetral drop in your auto! That will DESTROY your tranny quickly. A nuetral drop is revving the engine in N then slamming the gas while the RPMs are high into drive and squeaking the tires. That is one thing you do NOT wanna do, your tranny will be junk.

Reason: forgot to type something
put the car in first gear and put your left foot on the brake firmly. press your right down on the gas and slowly left off the brake and put more pressure on the gas till the tires break loose. have fun makin some smoke
You can try is putting Gia in the low gears, 1st or 2nd and try from there. One more thing, not sure but my 2002 GT Mustang has a traction control button, if you do, turn that off.
Tag to the next person. Good luck and keep us posted.

This is the proper method. (power braking)
BTW you cant do a burn out in park or neutral, put it in drive and follow the above directions.

Follow the power braking method. Just don't SLAM down the brake though, you want to hold down the brake just enough to keep the car from moving. Spray down the ground with water to get some practice before you need a new Stallion though
put the car in 2nd gear and like mentioned above press the brakes so the car won't roll forward turn off traction control and start pressing the gas with your right foot until the tires break loose.
If you are on street tires at the track you don't want to do a long burnout, just a quick spin to clean off the tires.

Heres how I do it.
Spray a little water under the rear tires, put the tranny in 2ond gear, hold the brake pedal so the car won't roll and pull the revs up to about 4ooo rpm for 2-3 seconds and then release the brake. Keep the throttle steady until the tires hook and then let it idle to the line and you're ready to go.
Why start in 2nd? Does that make 'em spin easier or faster?

UPDATE- I've been practising, but it's a lot harder than i thought it would be. I keep forgetting about the traction control. i haven't managed to get it yet.
