Default What drag radials for stock rims? - 2005 Mustang GT

I made my first trip to the track last night, and naturally, I'm hooked. I saw a guy with a CS/GT with 20's like mine up front and he had drag radials on a set of stock rims in the back. I noticed that they were Mickey Thompson tires. My question is, what size drag would I get to fit on the stock rim? I went to the site and it's a tad confusing. My plan is to buy a couple of stock rims (I don't have mine anymore) and put these on there.

Thanks!!

I feel you! First time I went to the track I was addicted!

I have an 04 Mach, so its a little different, but Im running a 295/35 on the street, on an 18" rim btw, and a 275/40 on a set of 17x10 wheels at the track! Most of the guys that I know who run thier factory stock/slightly modded cars at the track run a 275/40 drag radial. Slicks is a whole other ball game I dont know about yet. I think youll be satisfied with a 275/40 though. It might seem small, but just remember a bigger tire doesnt always help you. Alot of times it hurts you, unless youre putting down big torque/rwhp numbers. Have fun and enjoy!

Yes, a 275/40 would be the one to start with.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.
