I have never raced a manual and now i just bought my first, although I know how to drive a stick, i dont know how to do a burnout or launch at the track or if there is a certain way to shift while speeding down the lane. Any help for this dumb newbie would be greatly appreciated.
There are a few different ways to do burnouts and some arent great for your car but hey its a burnout which makes it ok.
You can hold in the clutch, put it in first and rev up the engine with the clutch in and then dump the clutch at a high RPM and that will spin the tires a bit.
If you have a line lock system you could engage the line lock on the front tires and do the same and just hold it in.

From what ive gotten so far as far as the burnout goes is to rev the motor a little then dump the clutch, once the you get the wheels spinnin you apply just enough pressure to the brake to stop you from rollin forward but not to much because you will hault your burnout. As far as the meaning "dumping the clutch" that means to just let off the clutch pedal immediatly. and i think slipping the clutch means to release it a lil slower rather than dumping it. Anyone correct me if im wrong, still trien to learn.
Yup, you got it. You rev it up a bit, release the clutch then get the brakes to stop the car, not the spinning. Watch in your mirrors, when they smoke over, count to 5 and let out of the brake and let off the gas slowly. Don't let off the gas all the way, drive out of the burnout. And do not boil the tires, if you overheat the tires you'll get slicker tires, not stickier. Overheating tires will bring the resins and oils to the tread surface. Then creep up to the line, usually if you let the starter know you're new he'll help you. You light the pre stage bulb, rev the engine to clean it out, then creep forward till you BARELY light the second bulb which is 6 inches further. Then rev the engine to 2000-2200 and then on green you slip the clutch. Since this is your first time, don't worry about reaction time, you need seat time first. Run the engine up to 5500 and shift quickly, don't worry about powershifting until you get comfortable with the track and how to do it. The more you do it, the better you'll do and then you could start whittling on your time with different launch rpms, shift rpms, and so forth. But try to stay in the groove, you'll have the best traction there.

Don't do your burnout in first gear. You won't get enough wheel speed to heat the tires. Third or fourth would be better.

Well if i do a burnout it will be at the track to clean off the tires. I have street tires so I wont be goin thru the water box. Ill just have to try some combinations i guess and find out what works best for me. Thx for the advice.
another method which i always use it to put my right heel on the brake and my right toe on the gas, hold the brake firm with your heel and lightly step into the gas with the toe, let out the clutch rather quickly and when the tires start to spin for a few seconds then let out of the brake, usually second or third gear depending on track conditions and the temp
