Default quarter mile help!! Please!!!

I have a 88 notch. I have a 69 351 windsor for it. Im trying to get away with using the stock heads. Car has a c-4 with shift kit msd 6al,shortys, 4:10 and lift bars. Im trying to get into the 12's with a 100 shot. The car also has skinnys and slicks on it. Was going to try a cam/intake/carb combo with a 100 shot and hope for 12's.Think its possible? Any other suggestions.

Yes, you should get 12's but why choke it with stock heads? You're leaving about 50-60 hp on the table versus some good aftermarket heads.

I was looking at the edelbrock rpm heads/intake/and cam kit that sells for 1700 and a 100 shot for 429 through summit. But not sure if there would be a better route. Still have to put a fuel cell, lines and converter in the car also. Any other reasonable combos for my stock 69 351?

There are alot of aftermarket Windsor style heads out there. Most any of them will be an improvement over stock. I would choose an aluminum set. You'll gain power and lose some front end weight.

edelbrock heads are overrated in my opinion. you can get better aluminun heads than performer heads. you might even look at worl heads, they have some iron heads that are good if you are on a tight budget.

Never ran this set up. Yanked the original motor to paint the car and now i have a stock 69 351 w to put in it. Just dont want to be dissapointed if i just put a cam/intake/carb and a 100 shot. Would really like to see low 12's

You could always do the cam carb intake combo, add a good prot polish and some oversize valves. depending on rear suspension, axle wind and such you should be very low 12's. maybe 11's. add procharger = 10's hehe have fun bro.

Think im just gonna bite the bullet and buy a set of aluminum heads also. Looking at canfield heads? Whats the best bang for my buck? Want to use them on the stock 351 but also wanna have room in case i upgrade to a 393 or 408 stroker. Whats a good head/intake cam combo for the street but i want good numbers at the track. 351w-c4-4:10 100 shot. What kind of numbers can i expect? Thanks guys!

I hear that Patriot has some good budget aluminum heads that are good for 75 hp with nothing else. $700 each or something like that. Assembled, too. Saw it in one of the big Mustang magazines a couple months back. Don't remeber which one, don't have any on me. Ported stock heads might end up killing your budget, though. I sent my 289 in for a rebuild, came out with ported heads and $6,000 poorer. Your stock heads will probably be mildly warped, which means they need to be milled, then each port has to be machined, etc, etc. Save yourself the trouble, time, money, and weight and buy some aluminum heads.
