I think you've got good advise from everyone, and there is no substitute for seat time. You need to feel confident when you stage the car, and that only comes with seat time. However, I do have a couple of suggestions that will help your reaction time. Do not wait for the tree to go green, because if you do, you're dead late. As soon as you see even a hint of the last yellow, launch the car. Between using that technique and clutch adjustments, your reaction time will come down. I'm a newbie to this forum, but have quite a few years of drag racing under my belt. I've won the Muscle Car Nationals in Denver for late model cars quite a few years back with my 5.0 GT, and even won a bracket race event by cutting good lights, with the best being .004. However, I have to admit that my first time or two, when I started drag racing, my times were in the 2.0 range

or worse. So, as has been stated already, just concentrate on having fun, and everything else will come in due time.
