Question Transmission Troubles

my car does great in 1st and 2nd but when it hits drive it falls down in tranny, the car has a shift kit,but could it be in the modulator since there is no vacum line running to it.if it does need this line where would you run this line from?

If the modulator has no vacuum line hooked to it there should be an open vac fitting on the inrake manifold somewhere. That or perhaps the vac line is still hooked up at the manifold and the other end is loose somewhere under the car. Either way there should be a vac line from the intake manifold to the modulator.

you may want to look into putting a manual valve body on it.then you can shift it when ever you want it to

The manual valvebody would solve everything concerned with that. But you haven't found any loose or open vacuum lines?

the car does have a manual valve body, but i was still unsure whether or not you still needed the modulator hooked up.the car was in pieces when i bought it and i put my own intake on it so i was starting from scratch.just hope i didn't damage my tranny,i haven't had the chance to take it down the road ,we,ve had 12.75 inches rain in 36 hours ,a new record since they kept track back in the late 1800,sneedless to say the track is under water, but thanks for the good advise,i will keep ya posted

If you have a manual valve body, you don't need to run a modulator. Is the valve body a reverse pattern?

i'm not sure what you mean by reverse valve body,i took it to the strip last night and run 7.88,my best ever, the seal being out and the clutches were probably slipping luckily it didn't show any damage yet, should i put in a trans brake,i would like to know the ups and downs about them.

a reverse valve body means that when you are in park and pulling it down into gear it is p r n 1 2 3 if you have a foward pattern valve body you are shifting up and i guess if you had some kind of shifter failure you could shift it all the way to reverse or park.a trans brake is pretty cool but it puts a lot more stress on the trans driveshaft and rear end.

do you know how to set up the reverse valve body,i can see where this could help a person out, such as a burnout then going back to neutral cleaning out carb then hit the tree
