2005+ Stock Mustang GT Specific - Burnout and launch
As I wrote on the introduction forum, I'm new here and also to the american cars (RWD), all my life (hey I'm only 22!) I drove japanese cars (loved the handling, braking, cornering speed but were not fun... although EVO's are awesome machines, I must addmit that, never owned but driven a lot)... anyways, this question goes to those who own or know how to do a burnout and a good launch (I know it deppends on wheater and stuff like that but a "common" good launch would do it) on 2005+ Mustang GT (stock). I don't wanna bust my new car =P
Burnout Questions
How do you do it? how much (numbers, not exact but close will do) you rev the engine? you do it in ich gear? does a burnout hurt your car (the tires obviously but engine, transmission, drivetrain?)
Launch Questions
Again, how much you rev the engine and how you let go the cluth pedal (you dump it, you slip it...)
Thanks to anyone that can answer this questions, as i already stated I'm new to RWD and american cars, I know you can have a lot of fun with these cars but never owned one so... (yes...) never did a burnout... =P and launched only in AWD japanese cars... anyways, thanks!!
For a serious launch I will dump the clutch at 3500-4000 rpms. To learn, I'd recommend starting out at 2500 and working your way up. Do you plan on running slicks or drag radials?
i know my stock tires can only handle about a 3k RMP dump of the clutch without spinning off the line, give or take a few hundred RPM. it will take quite a few passes to get used to it no matter how much people tell you how to do it, YOU have to go try for yourself...........if you are running stock tires you do NOT need to do a burn out, and if you do you will experience BAD wheel hop the majority of the time......go AROUND the water, get straightened up, rev it up and dump the clutch without holding the brakes. enough to spin the tires over pretty good (about a 3k or 4k dump). All you need to do with the stock tires is clean them off a little, if you smoke them they get slicker and slicker. and dont mess with your air pressure, stock tires perform BEST at their recommended psi. My stock tires have been good for consistant 13.50 runs AND that is with 3.31 gears.......
